Abuse: Benedict XVI expresses his shame, his pain and sincerely asks for forgiveness!
In a letter addressed to the faithful of the diocese of Munich, the Pope emeritus speaks of pedophilia in the Church, drawing inspiration from the words "mea maxima culpa" of the Mass: "we ourselves are drawn into this very great fault when we are not facing it with the necessary determination and responsibility”. Vatican News Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI is intervening, directly and personally, to speak out on the report of abuses committed in the Diocese of Munich and Freising, Germany, of which he was Archbishop for less than five years. He does so in a writing with a penitential tone, which contains his personal “confession” expressing his “pain for the abuses and errors that have occurred during the time of my mandate in the respective places”.
