Abuse: Benedict XVI expresses his shame, his pain and sincerely asks for forgiveness!

In a letter addressed to the faithful of the diocese of Munich, the Pope emeritus speaks of pedophilia in the Church, drawing inspiration from the words "mea maxima culpa" of the Mass: "we ourselves are drawn into this very great fault when we are not facing it with the necessary determination and responsibility”. Vatican News Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI is intervening, directly and personally, to speak out on the report of abuses committed in the Diocese of Munich and Freising, Germany, of which he was Archbishop for less than five years. A symposium on the priesthood organized at the Vatican!

For three days, from February 17 to 19, experts and theologians from all over the world will reflect on the theme: “For a fundamental theology of the priesthood”. Abuse: financial compensation, a restorative materiality!

In almost three months, the Church of France has put in place a comprehensive mechanism for the recognition and reparation of victims of abuse through an endowment fund, topped up by bishops, dioceses and the faithful who so wish, and a support body for victims, the Inirr.
